Katie Zager is a Photo Journalist from Austin, Texas. She received her B.S. in Photojournalism from Syracuse University with a minor in Art History.
Growing up, Katie frequently picked up animals such as lizards, toads, orphaned mice, and garden snakes and would bring them home or to school to show her family and classmates. She loves animals and desires to educate viewers through her work about the importance of the environment and wildlife conservation.
Her photographic journey began in 2012 onboard a National Geographic family expedition to the Galapagos. In high school, she applied for a National Geographic student photographer exhibition in Australia, where she photographed Sydney, The Daintree Rainforest, and the Outback.
At Syracuse University, she worked with two student-run organizations as the Director of Photography for University Girl Magazine and as an Assistant Photographer for Zipped Magazine. In addition to her photographic experience, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, where she held a position as the Public Relations Chair managing social media accounts and merchandise creation and distribution.
